Integrating Evidence across the Social Sciences

The second major theme of my research is the question of how to integrate different forms of evidence in the social sciences. In particular, I have been asking:

  • What are the various methodological issues that arise from attempts to use various forms of psychological evidence in economics?
  • When making causal inferences, it is possible to integrate evidence from standard quantitative statistical techniques with evidence from qualitative research designs, in particular comparative case study methods?

I will be leading a European Research Council project "Qualitative and Quantitative Social Science: A Unified Logic of Causal Inference" between 2017 and 2022 to look into the latter question.
